What's green on the outside and yellow in the middle?
Believe it or not, it's a watermelon! There are over 1,200 varieties of watermelons around the world, but the popular red watermelon found in the US actually originated from Africa and had yellow flesh. This delicious melon has a sweeter, honey like flavor and actually contains more nutrients than its red-fleshed counterpart. Watermelon seeds are packed with antioxidants which can prevent or slow cell damage in our body. Men may also be interested to know that studies have been conducted on how eating watermelon can help their ED (the results are astounding). Luckily, if you've been hooked and would like to taste this delicious melon, it can still be found from select farmers. Stockton's BUFA has a batch soon to be harvested! We pride ourselves on learning more about the food we grow and sharing it with our community. Healthy eating doesn't have to be a secret, known only by the wealthy. We encourage you to keep eating locally grown fruits and vegetables while learning about what they can do for your bodies. This passion is what keeps BUFA growing.
